A man of great faith, Gary served God and he cherished his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Tamsberg Allington. He is survived by: daughter, Anne Duhon, granddaughter, Cameron, brothers: Roger, (Nicky), Joseph (Vicky), sister: Patricia Gillen (Roger), God-daughter: Christy Gillen Shelton (Charles). Extended family: John Tamsberg (Margaret), Carolyn Huddleston. numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends: high school buddy, Duane O’Connell, college compadre, Sid Overton (Karen) and long-time friend “Bobber” Bob Losyk (Lois) and thousands of friends that gravitated to Gary throughout his lifetime.
Gary was born in Mitchell, SD, January 29th,1942 to Francis and Christena Allington. He was raised in Sioux Falls, spent his career in Florida working for Southern Bell, retired to Aiken, SC and moved to Kyle, TX to be near Anne and Cameron after Alice passed away.
Gary attended Cathedral HS and graduated from the University of North Dakota where he met and married Gloria Ham in 1966. He was an excellent athlete and received a football scholarship from UND. A gifted singer and musician, Gary wrote and produced his own CDs and as he would say entertained and
played many “gigs”. Allington weddings were always special, as Gary performed a personalized song at the ceremonies. Gary met Alice through an introduction by sister, Patty, and they were married for 31 years. Their life was filled with church activities, travel, laughter, host and hostess extraordinaire, and all the treasured moments with family and friends.
