Mr. Fred Howard Neal Sr. was born February 6, 1935 to Tommie Thompson and Edna Beatrice Neal Jones in Travis County. He was the oldest of 5 children. He graduated from Old Anderson High School. Fred accepted Christ at an early age at St. Elmo Baptist Church where he served as a junior deacon and sang in the choir. He was ordained as a Deacon at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robinson. He later joined New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastoral ship of AR Evans Sr. until his health failed and could not attend. Fred’s first job was as a cook at the PK Grill. He became an Independent Contractor for Montgomery Ward as a drapery installer for over 30 years. Then he worked for the State of Texas for 6 years as Master Tech of Air conditioning. His hobbies were reading, cooking, fishing, traveling, teaching Sunday school, coaching baseball/softball, and spending time with family. July 13, 1956 he married Joy Dell Rodgers. To this union 2 children were born Sharron A. (Bracken) Neal, Fred H. Neal Jr. Fred H. Neal Sr. departed this life on April 12, 2018 and was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Thompson and Edna B Jones (Neal); his siblings, Hubbard Lewis Jones and Odis Lee Jones, Sr.; son, Fred H. Neal Jr.; step-son, James O. Brooks; and grandchildren, Christopher R. Brown and (infant) Kenneth Brooks. Fred H. Neal leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Joy Dell Neal; daughter, Sharron A. Bracken (Neal); step-daughter, Debra J Thompson (Walter); step-son, Kenneth Brooks (Vera); seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.Memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018, 9am, at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2211 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Austin, TX 78702.
