A native of Central Texas, Fred was known by many people as an incredible chef. He worked at Matt's El Rancho and with his family at Nuevo León. Being the humble man he was, few people were aware that Fred had cooked for presidents, politicians, famous singers, and movie stars.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Mike Pineda, and siblings Richard Gonsalez, Joe Gonzales, Cathy Alvarado, and Sylvia Alvarado.
Fred Gonzales is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janie Gonzales; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Michael Bailey; daughter and son-in-law, Elisa and Roy McClure; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Ann Gonzales, and Rosie Jimenez, whom he loved as a daughter, all of Austin, Texas. Fred is also survived by his four grandchildren, Jonathan Bailey, Brandon Bailey, Joshua Gonzales, and Morgan Gonzales; and his great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Adam, and Jacob Bailey. Fred is fondly remembered by his beloved sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Fred was a man of deep faith and strong Catholic beliefs. With his gentle strength and quiet humility, he leaves behind a legacy of prayer and love. His passions for his family, iced coffee, music, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Houston Astros provided him great joy.
