He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Beverly; and his son, Russell.
Frank is survived by his sons, David Crump and wife Rosanne of Austin, Texas, James Crump and fiancé Dr. Susan Marshall of Canyon Lake, Texas; grandsons, John Cray and wife Susan, Michael, and Robert all of Austin, Texas.
Frank studied hard in high school with the sole purpose of attending the Naval Academy in Annapolis. He was on active duty July 1, 1943 as a seamen apprentice. He was processed by the Navy as a reserve officer in anticipation of serving during World War II. In 1944, Frank earned an appointment to the US Naval Academy. Frank served on six different ships during his career, once as a squadron staff officer and twice as a commanding officer. Frank retired with the rank of Commander in 1967 and the family moved to Austin, Texas. Frank's second career was at UT Applied Research Laboratories.
He and Beverly loved to travel and ride their bike around the U.S. They also traveled to England where they picked up a calling to become Hospice volunteers. Frank volunteered with Hospice Austin for almost 15 years.
Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 200 W. 27th Street.
