Francis Marion Turner passed away in Austin on Monday, June 30, 2008 at the age of 80. Francis was born in Meeker, Oklahoma where he was a graduate of Meeker High School. He later attended East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma. He married Freda Ware on June 9, 1950. They had two daughters, Tara Upshaw and Cindy Isaacs. He retired from Tinker Field Air Force Base in Oklahoma City after 30 years. He owned Turner's Gun Shop in Shawnee, Oklahoma for many years. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee. He and his wife Freda moved to Austin in 1995 to join their daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Francis enjoyed spending time in his gun shop, fishing, reading and playing chess. He also loved all types of music and played the guitar, violin and organ. He especially loved country music. He was a unique, loving and gentle man. Friends and family will never forget his kind heart and quick wit. He had a wonderful, unique sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents Holland and Jane Turner. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Freda, his sister Edna Finley, her son Rick Ragsdale and wife Linda, and their son Tanner, daughters Tara Upshaw and Cindy Isaacs and husband Jim. His grandchildren, Carrie Berry, Mardina Chen, Macey Isaacs, Nick Turner and Joseph Ocasio, and by great-grandchildren Sawyer and Hudson Berry. The family would like to thank the staff at The Summit at Lakeway, with special thanks to Sylvia, Terry, Ada, Pablo, Melissa, Bertha, Rachel and Laura. The family would also like to thank Katrina, Debbie, Diana, Maura, Angel, Amelia, Gary and Michael of Grace Hospice for their love and care. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Resthaven Cemetery.
