Francis A. Conley. DDS, passed away on December 5, 2005. Born on June 24, 1917 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and raised in Ranger, Texas, Frank served as page in the Texas Senate in the 1930's. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and was a member of the Texas Cowboys and Chi Phi fraternity. After graduation he immediately transferred to Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas where he graduated in 1944. He joined the U.S. Navy but was transferred to the Fleet Medical Corps of the U.S. Marines where he supported the final island invasions in the Pacific War. He was stationed in Tiensen, China until he returned to Austin in 1946 where he opened his private dental practice. Frank married Margaret Brush in November 1950 and had recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. He delighted in telling every one about Margie as the love of his life. His devotion to Margie, and Margies devotion to him, was evident to all. Frank served his patients until 1974 while contributing to his community and serving as President of the Austin Mental Health Association in 1952. Subsequently, Frank returned to school, earning a masters degree in health administration at Southwest Texas State University where he then taught communication in the Department of Allied Health until the late 1980's. During this time Frank also served on the Board of the Texas Department of Health. He was a long time member of St. Austins Catholic Church. Frank was devoted to and took great pride in his family, loved his many friends, always looked forward to meeting new people and enjoyed sharing a good joke or story. His health had recently deteriorated and he passed on to be with his Lord surrounded at his bedside by the love of family members. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his sons Stephen F. Conley of Milwaukee, WI and David Conley of Colorado Springs, CO, and his daughter Catherine McCanse of Austin and their respective children and grandchildren, as well as his brother Richard Conley of Austin and his sister, Catherine Ratway of Oklahoma City, OK. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2005, at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd followed by catholic services at St. Austins Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2005. Burial will be held at Austin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Settlement Home of Austin, 1600 Peyton Gin Road, Austin, Texas 78758, or to a charity of ones choice.
