Frances Lavilla Sikes Weathered, 91 passed away in Austin, Texas on September 11, 2016. She was born in Clovis, New Mexico to Bill and Bower Sikes on August 16, 1925. She was raised in Wayside, TX and Slaton, TX.
She married Frank Hover Weathered on June 15, 1949. They lived in San Angelo, Odessa, New York City and spent most of their lives in Brownsville, Texas.
Frances was a Real Estate Broker in Brownsville. She owned Town and Country Properties. She loved working and didn't quit until a stroke knocked her out of the game at 85 years old.
Frances was always on the go, always busy. She liked to travel and she liked to visit open houses in different cities. She was always sharply dressed. She loved clothes and high heels. She sewed many of her own outfits. She was a fabulous cook and made the best pies ever. She was confidante to many.
Frances was a life time member of the Church of Christ and was active for many years at the church in Brownsville.
Frances is survived by her husband of 67 years, Frank Weathered; her son Thomas Weathered and wife Alice of Princeton, Hawaii; her daughter Cindy Schiffgens and husband Mark of Austin, Tx; grandkids John Frank Anzelc, Roxanne Anzelc and son-in-law John Anzelc of Cleveland, OH, Sarah Schiffgens Carey and Thomas Schiffgens of Austin, Tx; and brothers Donald Sikes and Jimmy Sikes of Slaton, Tx.
Her daughter, Laura Anzelc, who took such good care of her, preceded her in death.
A life celebration will be held for family and friends on Saturday, November 5 from 2pm – 4pm at Tres Amigos restaurant 7535 Hwy 290 E Austin, TX 78723
