Frances Quinta Cuevas

Quinta was born in Austin on February 28, 1947 to Frances Smith and Bob B. Roberts, a World War II veteran. She married Stryker McGuire at a very young age and they lovingly raised their son, Shayne, during his early years. They divorced and each remarried with Quinta becoming wife to the late Manuel Cuevas Obregón. Manuel and Quinta enjoyed a happy marriage and shared a loving home where family and friends loved to gather. Following Manuel’s death in 1998, Quinta dedicated her last 27 years focusing on her children and helping them raise wonderful grandchildren to whom she was, and always will live in our hearts as Duda.

Quinta was a devout Catholic and went out of her way to help a great many people in need, from family members to strangers. A very private person, we only found out about a number of her acts of kindness much later in her life. She is survived by her children Shayne and daughter-in-law Alejandra, Verónica, Marisa, Adriana and Manuel and by her grandchildren Mara Paula, Luis, Sebastián, Juan Pablo, Sara, Anna, María, Alan and Fátima.

A funeral service for Quinta will be held on April 5th starting at 9:30 am at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Dr., Austin 78731.
