Eva Gail Abington went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, in Austin, Texas at the age of 59. Eva Gail was loved dearly by her husband Bill Abington and their children, Hallie and Reagan. Hallie is married to Austin Hanus and the two live and work in Dallas. Reagan lives in San Marcos where he attends Texas State University. Hallie, Austin, and Reagan frequently visited Eva Gail and Bill at their home in Kingwood, Texas. Eva Gail’s most enjoyable times were when all three visited together and made cherished memories.
Eva Gail is survived by her mother Yvonne Spradling, her three brothers and their spouses, Chuck and Caroline, David and D’Lyn, and J.L. and Julia Shuford. Bill’s sister Susan Prichett, and her husband Steve, were also dearly loved by Eva Gail. She loved her surviving four nephews, Jake Spradling, Zach Spradling, Kyler Spradling, and Thomas Prichett unconditionally, as well as her niece Rachel and husband Kolton Kubitz.
Eva Gail graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and she was heavily recruited by several global advertising firms to join their headquarters in New York City. However, Eva Gail chose to remain in Texas and marry Bill, who was establishing his profession in Texas. Eva Gail worked for several years in the family real estate business in Austin, and then moved to Houston where she became the marketing coordinator for a large outdoor publication. After her daughter, Hallie, was born, Eva Gail chose to put her career in advertising and marketing aside and stay home full time as Hallie, and later Reagan, grew through their childhood and into adulthood.
Eva Gail was involved in the Kingwood and Houston community, where she was active in Second Baptist Church, ladies Bible studies, and social clubs. Eva Gail served for three years on the board of Kingwood Hospital, and was active with Bill in serving for Be An Angel non-profit organization.
Eva Gail enjoyed sports, especially tennis, and the outdoors. She will be remembered for her good sportsmanship, cheery disposition, willingness to put others' interest ahead of her own, and her all around good nature. Most of all, Eva Gail will be remembered for her love. Eva Gail was the model of patience, kindness, and hope. Her unconditional love did not stop with her family, but went to her friends through her kindness and selflessness.
Eva Gail will be truly missed, but her family is comforted knowing that Eva Gail is in full health now celebrating in her final home in heaven.
