Ethelyn Marie “Peg” Rutledge, age 88, of Austin, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Round Rock Memorial Hospital. Peg was the 7th child born to Hugo and Emma Pagel on March 22, 1926 near Rosebud, Texas. She became a Registered Nurse in 1947 at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital in Waco. On April 19, 1947 she married Raymond O. “Red” Rutledge Jr. They moved to Sherman a few years later where they raised a son and daughter, Joseph and Lisa.
Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Red, in 1967. She moved to Austin in 1974 where she worked for the Texas State Health Department Long Term Care Division. Peg received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Edwards University in 1978. She retired in 1993 and enjoyed traveling to Canada and Australia.
Peg is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Delvin and Winona Pagel; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Ray Stallings; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Lee Rutledge; grandchildren, Scott Stallings, Susan Stallings, Abby Patranella, Paige Clark, Cara Rutledge, and Madison Rutledge.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Friday, April 11, 2014 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Marroquin officiating. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 14, 2014 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
