Ethel Mae Turner passed away on April 21, 2013 in Austin, Texas. She was born on July 5, 1928 and was 84 years old. She moved to Austin after graduating high school in Cameron, Texas and lived here for the remainder of her life. She was a member of the Great Hills Baptist Church and worked as a Southwestern Bell telephone operator for 25 years.
She was married to Floyd Turner for 26 years. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Ethel loved to fish and spending time on the river with family and friends. At home, her favorite pastimes were gardening in her yard and creating arts and crafts projects. She was very giving and always put others before herself. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter-in-law, Maria Turner.
She is survived by one daughter, Denay Runnels and her husband, Larry; two sons, Dennis Turner and his wife, Glenda, and Kenneth Turner; her grandchildren, Trey Turner, Crystal Moore and her husband, David, Travis Runnels and his wife, Erin, Nicholas Turner and Myranda Turner; step-grandchildren, Tammy Crooks, Shawn Carrasco, Samantha Colorado, Jose Carrasco, Tanya De Los Santos, Mona De Los Santos, and numerous great grandchildren; two sisters and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 27th of April 2013, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
