Erika E. Meggs, age 83, died peacefully at home on February 19, 2010, with her daughter present. Erika was born in Bremehaven, Germany, the only child of Eric and Frieda Lenthe. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Paul A. Meggs, of Austin, Texas. Erika is survived by her daughter Frederica Dreyer and son-in-law Gary Dreyer of Austin. Erika grew up during World War II, a time of hardship in Germany. In 1947 she emigrated to the United States and took up residence in Austin, Texas, where she met and married Paul A. Meggs. She very much enjoyed living and working in Austin. Erika had a great fondness for reading and literature and found her niche working for the library systems of the University of Texas for more than 40 years. She made many wonderful friends while working there. Erika and her family very much appreciated the services of Hospice Austin and give a special thanks to the nurses and other staff who were so exceptionally caring and assured her peaceful transition, at home, as she wished. A memorial service will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd., at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010.
