Was born on the family farm in Lewisville, Texas on September 5, 1930 to Fred Payne Garth and Sweet Lorena Eames.
He graduated from Lewisville High School in 1948. He honorably served in the UNITED STATES AIR FORCE from 1951-55. He later married Julia “Bunny” Teter in 1954 with children Bruce, Amber, and Barry. He graduated with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University in 1962. He then remarried in 1974 to Bobbye Jean Gotcher with stepson Lanny Brett Henry. He retired from Texas Instruments after 20 years as an electrical engineer participating in the development of the Super Computer and development of Surface Mount Technology that we commonly use in today’s electronics. He later went on to cofound XeTel Corporation in 1983, one of the first startup Surface Mount Technology design/ build computer circuit board manufacturers in Austin, Texas. He retired from XeTel Corporation in 1990. He later went on to work with Minco Technology as an engineering consultant. He fully retired in 2012 and soon thereafter lived with his son Barry Garth and wife Kathy to be close to family.
Emory is survived by his sister Laverne Tittle and husband Billy, his daughter Amber Garth Fletcher with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his son Barry Andrew Garth and wife Kathy with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff at St. David’s Round Rock for their kindness and loving care of our father. Emory is missed greatly by all of his family and friends.
Visitation on Wednesday 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin, TX 78750. Those attending may wish to travel by escorted procession to Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
