Emily Wilson

Emily Agnew Wilson, born August 27, 1931 in Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully February 7, 2013 in Austin, Texas. She was one of two children born to Hiram Wayne Agnew and Adeline Reba Hall. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, A.B. Wilson, Jr.

Emily was a devoted wife and mother and loved all of her family unconditionally. Besides her family, she loved children and spent many years caring for and educating young children. She had a smile that filled any room she was in and a gift for making people feel good about themselves. Emily never met a stranger.

Emily attended Hockaday prep. and Jr. College in Dallas and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin, where she was a member of Delta, Delta, Delta sorority. With her husband's career in the oil industry, they lived and raised their three children in Midland and Tyler, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. Emily enjoyed years of volunteering with The Junior League, as an altar guild member in numerous Episcopal parishes, and in her children's many schools and activities. In Shreveport, she worked with her beloved aunt, Mary Louise Agnew, both as a classroom teacher and later as an administrator of Agnew Town and Country Day School. Emily and A.B. moved to Hunt, Texas to live out their retirement years in the hill country. She had resided in Austin since her husband's death in 1997.

She is survived by her children Dr. Wayne Wilson (Eva) of McAllen, Adrienne Thannisch (Mark) of Austin, and Richard Wilson (Hope) of Mandeville, La., and her brother, Dr. Wayne Agnew (Wanda) of Arlington, Texas. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Morgan, Andrew, and Catherine Wilson, Jaycee Hausenfluck, Matthew, Wilson (Allison), and Amy Thannisch, and Lindsay, Reed, and Blake Wilson; her nieces Diana Bartlett, Lisa Brollier, Sheryl Morton, and her nephews, Michael and Scott Agnew.

The family wishes to thank her wonderful companions from Halcyon Home, the skilled nursing staff of Longhorn Village, and Hospice Austin. Your care, love and concern was truly a blessing during these last several months. A private memorial service will be held February 15, 2013 at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin.
