Elsie Antonia Rodriguez, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in the presence of our Lord, surrounded by her family on July 15, 2023, at the age of 85, in Austin, TX. Elsie was born on August 4, 1937, in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico to Juan Bautista Ramos and Nicholasa Badillo.
Elsie is preceded in death by her parents Juan Batista Ramos and Nicholasa Badillo, her husband Raul Rodriguez, her brother Luis Felipe Ramos (Luife), sisters Noris Cabrera and Luz Felipa Ramos Badillo (Fela), and brother Jhonny Ramos. Elsie is survived by her children, Nirna Serrano and Paul Rodriguez; sister, Ana Perez; three grandchildren who bought her so much pride and joy in their accomplishments, Desirie Nethercut and husband, Robby, Victor Serrano Jr. and wife, Michele, Deanna Serrano and husband, Duran Crouch; and seven great-grandchildren, Robby Nethercut Jr., Roger Nethercut, Michael Serrano, Nicholas Serrano, Abi Crouch, Shelby Crouch, and Kolby Crouch. Elsie will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Elsie’s hobbies included bingo, shopping, gardening, crocheting, listening to music, and spending time with family. Elsie was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Elsie loved being around her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends with a vigil service and Recitation of the Rosary at 6 PM on July 25, 2023 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10 AM on July 26, 2023 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 4800 Convict Hill Road, with Father Ray Pothireddy as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at 1 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 11463 State Hwy. 195, in Killeen.
