Elizabeth Jarmon “Ibba” Wilder , age 99 years, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her ranch in Florence, Texas on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Ibba was born in Austin on July 19, 1922, the only child of Ernest and Florence Jarmon. She graduated from Austin High School and attended University of Texas-Austin remaining an enthusiastic and lifelong Longhorn. Ibba married the love of her life John L “Jack” Wilder, Jr and they had 4 children.
Ibba enjoyed oil painting, her flower gardens, bird-watching, and playing bridge but her passion was family and family history. She inherited her grandfather’s farm from her mother and she and husband Jack loved working with the land, the horses, and their small herd of cattle. When they sold the farm she donated the Jarmon farmhouse to the Pioneer Farm in Austin so it could remain as a family legacy. Ibba’s mother’s side of the family were founders of Texas and she proudly claimed to be a 5th generation Texan, dating back to Republic of Texas. The Capitol of Texas stands on land owned by her ancestors. Ibba was fully engaged in the life of her family. Her strength, intelligence, wit and caring nature will be long remembered.
Elizabeth will be missed by son John William “Bill” Wilder and his wife Donna, daughter Diane Kay Wilder-Holliday-Hale and her husband Eric, her Grandchildren Chris Wilder, Dana Noska, Kara Wildenhaus , Daniel Hale, Gregory Holliday, John Holliday and 11 Great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by husband Col. John Lilburn “Jack” Wilder, Jr., daughter Betty Virginia Wilder and son Robert Edwin “Bobby” Wilder.
Graveside Services will be at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas at 11:30 am on 3/26/2022.
