Elizabeth was born at 10:00 am on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1918, at her parents’ home at 804 Patterson Avenue, Austin, Texas. She stepped into Heaven on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the age of 105, at her home at Brookdale Senior Living in Round Rock, Texas.
Elizabeth was the second child born to Luther Berry and Dimple Winn Randerson. She often told stories of the memories she had growing up in Austin. She would mention the many memories she had of her family spending time together, helping others, and attending church. Elizabeth graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in February 1937. She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, for one year, but moved back to Austin to attend The University of Texas for two and one-half years studying Home Economics.
Elizabeth left The University of Texas in February 1941 (about two months short of getting her degree) to marry Dale Morris on March 5, 1941. Dale was a pilot for Southwestern Aerial Survey, mapping states for the federal government. They spent a year traveling in several states doing the map work. In early 1942, they moved to Dallas, Texas, where Dale went to work for Braniff Airways. In September 1946, Elizabeth and Dale moved back to Austin.
In March 1957, the family, including three boys, ages 12, 8 and 6, moved to El Paso, Texas, where Dale took an assignment with the Civil Aeronautics Administration (now the Federal Aviation Agency [FAA]). The family was living there when Dale unexpectedly passed away on March 26, 1962. She and her three boys moved back to Austin where she spent the remainder of her life.
Elizabeth was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom until her husband Dale died. After moving back to Austin in 1962, she entered Dunaway School of Accounting and learned to be a bookkeeper and office manager. When she graduated, she went to work for Alvis and Carssow Attorneys at Law, J. E. Ricks Construction Company and finally Fonda San Miguel Restaurant.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Joe Dale (Jo Nell) Morris, David Owen (Linda) Morris and Jerry Lynn (Kari) Morris, sister Mary Grace Randerson, cousin Leland Walton, grandchildren Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Morris, Dale (Rhie) Morris, and Ethan (Sheri) Morris, as well as great-grandchildren Katherine Morris and Joey Morris, and numerous nieces and nephews. Additional survivors include extended family members Celeste Combs, Brian Combs, Phyllis Cram and Dick Cram.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Luther W. Randerson and Joe M. Randerson, her sisters Margaret and Greola “Jackie” Randerson, and her husband Frederick Dale Morris.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Brookdale Senior Living of Round Rock for the loving care they provided Elizabeth during her 6½ years of residence.
