Eliot Mitchell Jarrett passed away on March 8, 2025. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, Eliot grew up in Austin. He graduated from the LBJ Science Academy, studied at the Rotterdam School of Management, and in 2005 received his undergraduate bachelor of science in economics degree (summa cum laude) from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
After Penn, he joined Warren Lieberfarb and Associates in Los Angeles to conduct research and consulting on film, technology, and media ventures for major film studios, consumer-electronics manufacturers, and technology providers. In establishing his own consulting practice, he evaluated early-stage investment and acquisition opportunities in the nexus of entertainment content, media distribution, and enabling technologies as well as general marketing strategy. In addition, he directed all research efforts for a trade association comprised of internet companies in five technology fields.
Eliot was a happy and rambunctious little boy who became a young man full of ideas and numerous intellectual pursuits. Besides exploring the latest electronic gadgetry, Eliot loved his basset hounds, particularly Brando, and Dante, his Doberman. Since 2016, he enjoyed spending time with his nephew. Eliot also was an avid gardener and a friend to many in other parts of the world. Always seeking to help others, he will be missed so dearly.
Eliot is survived by his father, James Jarrett, sister Cassandra Avery and her husband Luke Avery, and their son, Reid Avery, of St. Paul, Minnesota; Dennis Jarrett, uncle, Wendy Jarrett, aunt, of Westport, Connecticut; David Brown, uncle, of Victoria, Texas; Nicole Porter, former spouse; and four cousins. Eliot was preceded in death by his mother Marion Elsas Jarrett, his aunt, Mignon Brown, and grandparents Peter and Lilli Elsas of Houston, and Marlin and Annabelle Jarrett of Central Pennsylvania. He was particularly close to his grandparents.
Memorial contributions on his behalf can be made to the charity of your choice that you feel represents Eliot and your memories of his spirit.
There are no words to express our sorrow. We've lost our cherished son and brother too young. Precious Eliot, we will grieve and celebrate you forever. Gone from our sight but never from our thoughts and hearts.
