She grew up in Wisconsin, primarily between Sun Prairie and Columbus. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1952, and started college in Milwaukee to study music.
In 1954 she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Heath, and enjoyed the life of a military wife. After retiring from the Navy, they moved back to Wisconsin. Elaine worked in retail while her children were in high school, working at Rosalie’s in Columbus, and Hillenbrand’s in Sun Prairie. She was also an active piano teacher, introducing many students to the joys of music and playing the piano (including her daughter and granddaughters over the years). After moving to Texas, Elaine worked at JC Penny’s telemarketing for several years, from which she retired in the late 90’s.
She was passionate about her family, and was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and compiled many new and interesting recipes from relatives, friends, and moving around in the Navy. She came from a family of card players, and was a member of a Bridge club, and enjoyed playing cards and socializing. She also enjoyed bowling, and was a member of several bowling leagues. In addition to playing piano, she enjoyed singing, and was a member of the Hill Country Singers for several years from the late 1990’s to the late 2000’s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Heath. She is survived by her children, Mike Heath, Dave (Gayle) Heath and grandson Zachary, and Kathy (Brad) Nelson and granddaughters Kristin and Kelsey.
