E Stanley Peterson, 87, of Austin died on the 4th of March, 2011 after a stroke and brief stay at Christopher House. Born and raised in Round Rock, Texas, he lived in Austin with his beloved wife of 62 years, Betty Jo (Nelson) Peterson until her death in 2010. Stanley served in WWII as a pilot in the Army Air Corps and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in chemistry. He worked for Jefferson Chemical Company, subsequently Texaco, retiring in 1985 as a manager in the analytical laboratory. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf, following UT sports and reading books of many genres. He was a fantastic storyteller and loved listening to music. Stanley is survived by sister, Betty Carolyn Elmore of Hutto, Texas; son, Ed Peterson of Portland, Texas (Becky); daughter, Marcia Caldwell of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Chris and Jason Peterson (Madelyn) of Austin and Houston, Kate and Courtney Caldwell of Austin, and Kim Caldwell (Justin Dove) of Little Rock, Arkansas; and great- grandchildren, Hanna and Camille Peterson of Houston. Stanley has been interred at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning, Friday, the 11th of March at Tarrytown United Methodist Church, 2601 Exposition Blvd. Per his wishes, donations may be made to the Music Dept. of Tarrytown Church, KMFA Radio Station, or Hospice Austin Christopher House.
