Edward Jerome Loeve, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 3, 2017. He was a loving and devoted husband. Father of four, grandfather of eight and a friend to many. He lived a life full of service to his family, his Catholic faith and community and will be greatly missed. Edward was born to Henry and Mary Loeve of Granger, Texas on May 6, 1932 and the youngest of six children. He graduated from Granger High school, where he enjoyed playing on the varsity football team. He also served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety after 30 years.
On August 17, 1968, Edward married Rosemary Lee Zoeller at St. Austin Catholic Church in Austin, Texas. They were happily married for 49 years. He was a devoted servant to the Lord. As an active member at St. Austin’s Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St Theresa’s Catholic Church. He was President of Legion of Mary, member of the Knights of Columbus, KJT Czech Catholic Society, Prison Ministries, and Eucharistic Ministry. Close to his heart was attending Mass daily, praying the Rosary and weekly Adoration. His family and friends will always remember him as a selfless, hardworking, humble and dedicated family man. His life and death correlated with the Bible verse 1 Peter 4:10, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in various forms."
Edward leaves behind his loving wife Rosemary and his children: Monica Loeve Tonn and husband Craig; Kayla Loeve Christie and husband Coleburn, Sr.; Laura Loeve Sykes; and James Loeve. His grandchildren: Melissa, Valerie, and Ashley Tonn; Coleburn, Jr., Benjamin and Ainsley Christie; Taylor and Mason Sykes and by his sister Velma Loeve. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Loeve, brothers, Clarence Loeve, Leonard Loeve and Henry Loeve, and sister Earline Loeve Bryan.
A Visitation will be held at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5:00-7:00p.m., followed by the Rosary at 7:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:00a.m. with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
