Born in Austin, Texas on October 14, 1958, Edward began his career as a cab driver for disabled passengers and later started his own roofing company in 1989. He was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and Navy for more than 10 years. His last assignment was onboard the USS Saratoga.
He loved all outdoor activities, especially running. He would run up to 15 miles a day and also ran many marathons. His greatest passion was playing and coaching football with his sons.
His friendliness, kindness, devotion, and love for helping people are a tribute to the beauty of his heart and soul. He touched many lives and his inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him.
Edward is survived by his wife of 30 years, Martha Loera; children, Joe and wife Regina, Jeffrey and wife Rosa, Erica, Eddy, and Brandon Loera; parents, Mary and Andrew Loera; brothers, Johnny and wife Christine, and Pete Hernandez, Manuel Requejo, Steve and Andy Loera; and grandchildren, Giselle and Sophia Loera.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with Recitation of Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment to immediately follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
