He attended school in Gonzales, Texas and later joined the Army and then moved to Austin, Texas. He met Robbie Lee Thompson and they married June 25, 1962. From this union six children were born.
Edward was a hardworking business owner for over 50 years, doing what he loved; driving his cab. His favorite things to do was work on his cab and cars, tend to the house, keeping the yard nice and spending time with his family. Something he would always say, “I have to take care of my family,” and that is just what he did. He loved being around his family, adored the time with his siblings.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents Albert Sr. and Delilah Lampkin. His brothers; Curlee Lampkin, Clyde Lampkin, and Albert Lampkin Jr., and his sister, Della Brooks.
He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife of 60 years, Robbie Lee Lampkin; six children, Antoinette, Cassandra, Edward Ray, Kevin, Felicia, and Regenia. One brother, Fred Lampkin, 2 sisters; Frances Lee and Alberta Rodgers. 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Edward will be held Friday, April 7, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78752. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78752. A graveside service will occur Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 3:30 PM at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
