Edna married the love of her life Benjamin Salcines on May 23, 1953 in Globe, Arizona. She was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years after graduating from Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. As a nurse, she was the duty nurse for the first open heart surgery performed in El Paso. Edna resided in El Paso for 53 years and had just recently moved to Austin in 2009. She was an avid bowler, loved to travel and also enjoyed gardening and swimming. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and tried to attend all of their activities. Edna will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
Edna is preceded in death by daughter, Kim Salcines and six siblings.
Edna is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Benjamin Salcines; children, Gregory Salcines and wife Jill, Benet Arredondo and husband Rene, Leigh Ann Smith and husband Robert, Jack Salcines and wife Sheila and Holly Czarnecki and husband Thomas; her twin siblings, Mary Watts and husband Brad and Wesley Anderson and wife Helen; grandchildren, Amanda Salcines, Marc Salcines, Corey Salcines, Justin Smith, Kristin Bortz, Logan Arredondo, Travis Smith, Krista Czarnecki, Jordan Czarnecki, Hayden Smith, Lori Kay Czarnecki, Christiana Arredondo, Rachel Salcines, Benjamin Salcines and Savannah Arredondo and other loving family members.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, with Dr. Ken Baldwin officiating.
