June 21, 1922 – September 17, 2015, age 93, of Austin passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer disease. Timmy was born in Heildelberg, Kentucky, to John and Anna Mae Durbin. She grew up in Heildelberg and had a life long love for the blue grass state.
In 1942, she married her childhood sweetheart Jimmy Updyke. Jimmy joined the navy and was stationed at Ward Island, Corpus Christie, Texas. Timmy worked for the navy as a civilian contractor in aviation records. After his tour of duty, they briefly lived in Kentucky before moving to Dayton, Ohio. Jimmy was employed by General Motors, and Timmy stayed home raising their only child, John. They lived in Dayton for thirty years. At retirement, they moved to Austin, Texas, to be closer to their son and his wife, Sally. Jimmy died in 2000. Timmy lived in her home with the aid of her caretaker and the support of her son.
Timmy is survived by her son, John Updyke, daughter-in-law, Sally Updyke, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thank you to Sendy Lujano for her loving care of Timmy during her last years.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 25th at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
