Edgar Norman Stevens

Mr. Stevens was born in Bedford, Indiana to Edgar J. and Dorothy Fletcher Stevens. As a young man he left Indiana for Texas where he met and married Dorothy Senkel in 1947. For nearly 40 years he worked for the City of Austin, many spent as Assistant Director of Building Inspections.

After retirement Mr. Stevens learned the piano and found the most enjoyment reading and travelling throughout the country always making trips back to Indiana. He walked mornings at Northcross Mall and visited with young ice skaters, then joined long-time friends for coffee every afternoon.

Mr. Stevens is also preceded in death by his parents, sisters Peggy Simmons and Betty Lange. He is survived by sons Ed L. Stevens (Denise) and Joel N. Stevens (Joann); grandchildren Abby Clardy (Dean), Michael Stevens, Jeff Stevens (Cristina) and James Stevens; and six great-grandchildren: Cody, Harper, Emma, Jacob, Wilder and Samuel.

Funeral services will be at 3 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church of Austin with Pastor Gary Goodson officiating and visitation at the church beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow at Capital Memorial Park.
