On the evening of May 24th, 1982 Dustin Edward Jones (or “DJ” as a lot of us knew him) blessed this world with his arrival. From the very beginning it was quickly recognized what an intelligent and intellectual being he was. As a little boy he impressed everyone around him with his ability to learn quickly and was far advanced for his age. In his later years, DJ could knock out a book cover to cover in a day and retain every last bit of what he read. It was truly fascinating how smart he was and the knowledge he possessed in regards to just about everything.
Dustin was an amazing and very loving father to his two beautiful babies Harper Paige and Jameson Rowdy, as well as the epitome of a wonderful son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, and nephew. Additionally, his network of friends was vast and those that had the pleasure to call him one would say he was the absolute best and that his friendship will be forever appreciated and cherished.
DJ had an amazing personality and sense of humor. He could make anyone laugh and brought smiles and joy to every room he ever walked into. He was an avid fisherman, skilled at diving both in work and recreationally, a talented musician, and of course a motorcycle enthusiast. As a dedicated former member of the Iron Workers Union Local 482, he participated in constructing many of Central Texas’ most impressive structures including multiple projects on the UT Campus and the JW Marriott hotel in downtown Austin. He was also a very talented cook and made the best chili around. He was a beloved soccer coach in his community for many years and brought fun, laughter, and guidance to all of the kiddos he coached and cherished so much. DJ seemed tough on the outside, however internally he was a super sensitive and empathetic person. He had the innate ability to recognize when someone was hurting, sad, mad, or having a tough time and was always able to provide insight, comfort, and strength to those he had natural gift of knowing were in need. Though taken far too soon, DJ has left a lasting impression on anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
In the early morning hours of Saturday June 29th, 2024 Dustin gained his wings and was called home to rest in eternal peace with our Heavenly Father. Dustin is preceded in death by his Grandmother Jane, Grandad Eddie, Grandfather Donald Ray, Grandma Bonnie, and Paw Paw John, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and beloved friends.
There will be a memorial service to honor DJ at the Connection Church in Buda, TX located at 1235 S Loop 4 Buda, TX 78610 on Tuesday July 9th, at 11am with a reception to follow. For anyone wishing to extend floral arrangements, please have those delivered directly to the funeral home that is coordinating Dustin’s memorial on Monday July, 8th; Weed-Corley-Fish (South) located at 2620 S Congress Avenue Austin, TX 78704.
You will be forever missed and have left everlasting memories and joy in the hearts of many. Rest peacefully, sweet angel. And go fly high on that mountain, DJ – your work on earth is done.
