My deepest heartfelt condolences to all Leticia's beautiful children - Alicia, Laurie, Roman, Sara, Gregorio and all of her loved ones. This is so hard saying good-bye - there are no adequate words! I will always treasure our times together as single mother's starting at UT and all the years after. Leticia, I want to Thank You for your friendship, your caring compassionate ways. One time really sticks out. Yes, You were a natural born educator. You came and sat at my lil kitchen table and told me, "Janie, if you want to be a teacher, you have to stop using double negatives." I had no clue what she was talking about (because of my own upbringing) but she explained it so clearly with love and care that I will forever be grateful for her pointing this out to me. Leticia- may your spirit soar to the highest. You left quite a legacy. I Love You. Til we meet again my dear beautiful friend!

I remember Professor Prof. Garza-Falcon from Tx State. I learned a great deal from her about about empowerment and leadership for our people and women in general. 
She challenged my thoughts, traditional mind set and opened my eyes to a bolder and enlightened freedom. 
Thank you Leticia for being who you were. Courageous, unapologetic, pure and a pioneer for all of us! You impacted my life.

My condolences to her family and friends. Leticia was a tough cookie because she had to be to defend herself and all the work that she did for las Mujeres in institutions that did not appreciate her work nor her vision. She had no regrets, and I counted her as my friend.

Leticia and I both attended PSJA High School and had many mutual friends- We later met up in Austin when I worked at the Texas Education Agency- she was a trail blazer and I admired her passion to improve student lives and pursue issues and programs for Hispanic and minority children. I will always remember her laugh and beautiful smile - I send my most sincere condolences to her children and family - Felipe Alanis
