I was so sad to hear of Dovie's tragic passing..

  Bob and I loved and admired Dovie..   as did everyone who ever worked with her.

I met her about 40 years ago.. and never forgot her sweet personality.. She was so smart and admired by all who ever knew her

As a teenager living on the same street with the Greens, I considered myself part of the family, they were so warm and totally givers of love, food, time, and advice. Dorothy, Shellie, and the other family members, I will always remember your kindness.

We share many great memories with Dovie, most recently in Marlin, Tx at George Hudson’s funeral services. Dovie lives on in all of us thru time shared together. We offer our support thru prayer or whatever you need. May God give you strength, favor and blessings during this difficult time.

My Dovie, My Dovie! Such an amazing, beautiful, down-to-earth, spirit - filled  woman she was. We met through her daughter Tracy, guess I can call myself the family hairstylist.  So many memories I will cherish because there was never a dull moment during our visits. Everyone knew and embraced her as she made her way through the shop greeting all with that warm smille and genuine presence. Lol, I'll miss my 911 calls, those words of encouragement when I was feeling a tad bit defeated, wisdom when a sista was just lost, seeing her come around the corner in that stylish attire of hers with that huge full of life smile,her telling me stories from her past or us catching up on the latest Green Leaf episode 😊. Our tug of war moments when I try to get her to try a new style. She would always tell me, "I'm too old for that" and I'll respond your never too old we living our best life Mrs. Dovie 💕.  Needless to say she won majority of the time but when she ALLOWED me to win (because I was persistent) we made magic. Mrs. Dovie you will be deeply missed but your legacy will carry on.  Tracy, Shemar and Isaac my prayers are with you all. Thank you so much for sharing her with me. She was more than just a client but she was family to me. Love you 💜

We only met a couple of years ago, but you made a lasting impression upon me.  When you joined the Local Employee Committee for the State Employee Charitable Campaign representing the State Comptroller's office, your enthusiasm and drive was so refreshing.  You had a zeal for life and it showed in everything you did.  You will be missed.  To the family, keep her memory alive by living your lives as I know she has given you the road map to follow.  May God provide you with comfort during this difficult time.

Someone texted the news to me early Monday morning.  I worked with Mrs. Jackson’s daughter, Tracy, years prior at another TX state agency, finding out later Mrs. Jackson was her Mom.  As Gerard Washington (a former co-worker) stated, “Mrs. Jackson helped to make our time in the workplace successful and rewarding!” I appreciate the work opportunities gained with the TX Comptroller’s Office.  Although I moved on, I remember Mrs. Jackson.  My condolences to Mrs. Dovie Jackson's family.

My most recent memory of Dovie was from July, 2017 when she and her husband Isaac hosted the Reed Family Reunion in Austin, Texas. She was so humble and showed so much hospitality to the family during that weekend. I’m sure she was tired but not once did she let it show.  I will always remember joining them at Mt. Zion Church on that Sunday before heading back to our destination.  We love You and will miss your smiling face.

Dovie was a very kind and thoughtful person. When you got called  into her office to talk to her you could see in her facial expressions that she was thinking before she would speak. From her big inviting smile you knew when something good was coming. Yet if you saw her eyes open wide and her nose spread, you just might be in trouble. She was very supportive on the job and off. I’m so glad I had an opportunity to know her. Dovie was a wonderful person and now she is resting in the arms of Jesus. Dovie you will be missed by many. My condolences to Isaac, Tracy, Shamar and the entire family!

Sincere condolence from The Mary Clark Family is being expressed via Joyce Clark Johnson.  I first  met Dovie (Mollie) at the wedding of her sister, Marilyn.  Every time I had the opportunity to engage her at future family events she impressed me with her effervescent personality and radiating smile.  She had a way of generating peace, calmness, assurance and pure love in any setting.  If the atmosphere wasn't pleasant, it quickly changed because of the "LIGHT" that she generated.  Her passing has left a huge hole and a lot of pain, but this will soon lessen as we reflect on all the goodness that follows her name.  She will forever live in the hearts of all she encountered.  For now, let's lean heavily on God for strength to carry on.  He is faithful and a very present help in this time of need.

My prayers are with the family. Dovie was a very beautiful person. I always enjoyed seeing her smiling face at the Comptroller Office  and at church. She will certainly be missed by many.

For me Dovie was that very special person who was always looking out for me and others even when we did not know or expect it. She helped to make our time in workplace successful and rewarding!  More importantly she had genuine concern for the well-being of all us! I will miss her. 

It’s been an honor getting to work under Dovie when I began with CPA back in 2010. She has also been my mother’s supervisor and manager when she worked at CPA for 23 yrs. My first day meeting Dovie, I told her my mom had worked with her so many years before and the first thing she said to me, was that she was so mad at my mom when she retired cause she kept it a secret and wouldn’t allow Dovie to give her a retirement party. We had such a laugh! She was always friendly and willing to stop and visit, checking on me after my mom passed away. I know she will be missed by all who knew her!!

I have known Dovie over 30 years through the Comptroller's Office and we're both members of Mount Zion Baptist Church.  I consider her not only a co-worker but a friend. I will miss her smile and that bashful look she liked to give you when requesting you to do something. Dovie was as my Bigmama would say "Good People".  Isaac, Tracy, Shamar and family, remember, You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Dovie was such a special person. I knew her from my start at the Comptroller’s Office back in 1989. It did not take us long to realize we were both from west Texas....her from Odessa and me from Midland. I always felt a special connection with Dovie and she gave me some great career advice along the way. My prayers go out to all of her family knowing she was loved and admired by so many people who knew and worked with her. 

I first met Dovie at our first Black Histoy Luncheon in Austin where Comptroller Bob Bullock also attended. We were all so proud of our heritage and opportunity to serve the State of Texas. It has been a long road we have both traveled since then, each not knowing what our destiny would be. Your wife and mother and grandmother has left a legacy that will not be forgotten. May God’s grace and mercy be with you all and know that Dovie was greatly loved by all that knew her. 

May God bless you, keep you and comfort you during this time.  May you find comfort in so many memories that she left.  

Dovie was an inspiration to all that knew or came in contact with her. Never only just another co-worker but looked at like family.  Always a JOY to see and be around in the halls of CPA. She was never too busy to stop and have a pleasant conversation with those that she knew.  Heavens gain is our Earthly loss for now.

Dovie was my boss, mentor and friend for almost 40 years that I have known her. She reached out to help so many people at the Texas Comptroller's Office with her guidance, direction and support of others. The dictionary defines the word exemplary as "serving as a desirable model; representing the best of its kind" Dovie was "EXEMPLARY" in every sense of the word. She was the "best of her kind",  and she will be missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her. My condolences and prayers to Isaac, Tracy and all of Dovie's family at this difficult time.  May she rest in peace!

My condolences on the loss of Mrs. Jackson.  So often  people say she has gone home when our loved one passes, but I hope you find more comfort knowing our Heavenly Father feels your pain of loss.  The bible helps us to see he considers people to be the work of His hands, when a man dies he too longs for them to live again. (Job 14:14,15) For this reason HE has given us the promise to swallow up death forever (Isaiah 25:8) and these words at Revelation 21:4 "And he will wipe put every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.  The former things have passed away." These former things happening everyday causes the pain that he has already said he will do away with, the pain you feel right now. I hope looking ahead to this time will bring you comfort to your heart, soul, and mind.


To the Green and Jackson families, Keith and I send our love and deepest sympathy in the death of our dear friend, former neighbor and (Joyce’s) co-worker. Dovie was like a sister to me in many ways. In fact, she allowed me to refer to her mom as “Muhdear” as all of her children did. Dovie and I became quick friends at UT Permian in the early 70’s and kept in touch long after she moved to Austin.  We shared so much of our lives—the ups and downs always encouraging each other in the assurance that God is still in control. Rest in Paradise, my dear “Mollie”, He is still in control.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Ms. Dovie. She will always have a special place in my heart. I met her about 15 yrs ago while I  was employed in revenue processing. She always had a kind and encouraging word whenever we met in the hall. She even consented to come and speak to the youth ministry at my church during black history month a few years ago. She was such an amazing woman and will truly be missed.

I met Dovie in the early 70's when she was a student at UTPB  We became lifelong friends from that point forward.  My Dovie -- smart, strong, independent, caring, loving,  beautiful inside and out, etc., etc., --and above all, a woman of God!  I am certain there was a lot of rejoicing when the Angels, as her guides, led her into Paradise and took her Home-- to the New Jerusalem. From the moment I met Dovie , I knew I had met an angel. More often than most people realized , she helped a lot of us. She came to my rescue several years ago. Her hard work and dedication to BACE was truly noted. On my retirement day, she made sure she spoke with me to extend her congratulations . Many people will walk in and out of lives, but only a few will leave footprints; thanks Dovie for leaving your footprints in my life.

I remember meeting Ms. Dovie. She was in a red dress looking so polished in the Executive offices. I was very excited and said HELLO extending my hand out. Standing back in surprise Ms. Dovie graciously said: well hello to you. She was always interested in conversation and always showed much bravery and goodwill towards any one.  I believe Dovie was the ♥️  n soul of the TXCPA office.  No one will ever wear a red dress like Ms. Dovie did. I will always remember her love, support and faith in people of all walks of life. My angel now. 

So sorry to hear of her passing, her daughter is a dear friend and former coworker of mine & I met Mrs. Jackson on numerous occasions & she was always an endearing person who lit up a room with her warm personality.
