Dorothy (Dot) Margaret Sanso

Dorothy Margaret Strack Sanso, age 90, of Austin, Texas passed away on December 31, 2010. She was born December 27, 1920 in Marlin, Texas to Marie and Louis Strack. Dorothy moved with her family to Austin in 1931. She spent her working years at Texas Insurance, checking office and highway insurance underwriters. In 1947, she married Samuel Anthony Sanso, who was stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen. Dorothy and Sam made their home in Austin.

Dorothy retired when her sons started grade school and dedicated her life to her children and her home. Dorothy was an outdoor person, loving many challenges of gardening in her yard.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Samuel Anthony Sanso, of 63 years; two sons, James (Jim) Sanso and wife Diane of Austin, Richard (Rick) Sanso and wife Mary of Austin; also grandchildren, Christopher James Sanso and wife Rosa of Dale, Texas, Richard Loren Sanso, Jr. and wife, Stacy, Kimberly and Kasie Sanso of Lockhart, Texas, Shawn Wayman, Scott Wayman and wife Kristol of Kyle, Texas; six great-grandchildren, R.J., Makayla, Brayden, Hunter, Justin Dean and Cleo Breann. Dorothy is preceded in death by parents, Louis and Marie Strack; sisters, Della Marie Herrin and Lillian (Skip) Rainbolt.

Dorothy was a devout catholic. She and Sam were married in 1947 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Austin and later, for over 60 years, were members of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Austin.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on with Rosary service to begin at 7:00 pm on January 3, 2011, Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 126 West Oltorf, Austin, Texas with Reverend Bill Wack, C.S.C. officiating.
