Dorothy Laverne Schwarzer Hobbs passed away peacefully on December 16, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born to Edward and Margaret Schwarzer on December 6, 1929 in Austin, Texas. She dedicated her life to serving and loving others, working most recently as a volunteer with the Foster Grandparents Program. She loved being a Foster Grandparent, where she could sit and rock the babies. Her family and friends were always most important to her, and she was known as Granny to almost everyone. She loved gardening, fishing, solving puzzles and playing bingo. She was quick with a quip and liked to joke and tease her family and friends, and always gave her many doctors and nurses just a little dose of her sense of humor. She was a good hugger, and fun to be around. Our loss is Heavens gain. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; brother, George; and sister, Elsie Marie. She is survived by her sister, Jody Kasper; brother, Jim Schwarzer and wife Rita; daughter, Shirley Dodson, and daughter Mary Ann Green and husband Donnie. She is also survived by the grandchildren who meant so much to her, Kimberly Ramos and husband Orlando, Melissa Tharp and husband Michael, Ragen Green and wife Loretta, Joshua Green and partner Stephanie Runte, Kelly Green and Chloe Green; great-grandchildren Meagan, Gabrielle, Michelle, Michael, Diana, Travis, Paige, Justin, Kaylee, Hannah; and great-great-grandson Andy. She will be greatly missed by her extended family of Alfonso and Margaret Ramos, Gina and Jose Muniz, Jeff and Laura Hobby, Burt and Lisa Fowler, her lifelong friend Doris Riedel, and all her friends and bingo buddies at RBJ. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 19, from 6:008:00 p.m. Funeral services will be December 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Wilke-Clay-Fish, with burial to follow at Cook Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville.
