Dorothy Becher Hertel

Dorothy Becher Hertel died peacefully, August 15, 2007 in Austin, Texas. Born July 3, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, Dottie graduated from Ohio State University as a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Dottie was an adoring, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. As a devote Christian, Dorothy was a nurturer to many friends. She joyously lived her life with a constant upbeat, can do, and will get done attitude which brightened the spirits of all who new her. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, David H. Hertel, Sr. She is survived by her brother, James Becher and sister-in-law, Nancy Becher of Ft. Myers, Florida; son David H. Hertel, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Lana Hertel of Austin; daughter Nancy Hertel of Ft. Collins, Colorado; son Bill Hertel and daughter-in-law, Karen Hertel of Austin; daughter Betsy Smith and son-in-law, Bill Smith of Bellevue, Colorado; daughter Margaret Prince and son-in-law, Bob Prince of Austin; grandchildren David (Trey) Hertel and wife, Becky of Austin, Brannon Hertel and wife, Mary of Littleton, Colorado; Chapin Hertel, Landon Hertel and wife, Allyson of Austin; Blaine, Rebecca and Emily Smith of Bellevue Colorado and Hannah Prince of Austin. Great grandchildren are Max and Ben Hertel of Littleton, Colorado. A family ceremony will be held at the final resting place for Dottie and Dave, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, in San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 403 E. 15th St., Austin, Texas 78701.
