Dorothy Mae Dildy was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Dorothy will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
She was the daughter of John and Norma Brugger, born on September 2, 1922 in La Grange, Texas.
Dorothy was raised with three siblings, Lowell Brugger, Nellie Havins, and John W. Brugger. Dorothy was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Dorothy had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
Empathic and loyal, Dorothy was committed to making her new family happy.
Dorothy worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs.
Fortunately, Dorothy enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Dorothy worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was bookkeeper. Dorothy always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Dorothy enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were quilting, crocheting and gardening. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Dorothy’s faith was important to her. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Dorothy was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was her cat.
Dorothy passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Bastrop, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Dildy and brother, John W. Brugger. Dorothy is survived by sons, Glenn W. Michalk and wife, Judy and Danny Dildy; stepson, Bob Dildy and wife, Pat; stepdaughter, Patty Cunningham and husband, Ron; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lowell Brugger; sister, Nellie Havins; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
Simply stated, Dorothy was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Dorothy leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Dorothy Mae Dildy.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 5, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Mausoleum Chapel.
