Beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and enduring friend to all those that she met. Born July 1, 1937 in Pennsylvania, Dorothy moved to Texas after marrying her husband, Harry L. Cannon on April 7, 1956.
Dorothy was a homemaker raising her two children for many years before returning to work at Michael's Arts and Crafts and then most recently at the Department of Public Safety where she retired in 2005.
Dorothy loved life and loved people. She never met a stranger and had a magnetic personality and incredible wit. She loved to make people laugh and always had a ready smile and a joke to tell. Even during her battle with Alzheimer's she never lost her sense of humor.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parent,s Frederick Harry Cotshott and Dorothy Mae Vanholt Cotshott, and her grandchildren, Lauren Marie Walker and Cameron Noble Walker.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Lloyd Cannon, daughter and son-in-law, Carol L. and Noble E. Walker, her son, Kip Cannon, and fiancé, Cathy Madrigal, and grandchildren, Brittany M. Walker, Jeremy N. Walker, Tyler Cannon and Kolby Cannon, one sister and three brothers.
Active Pallbearers will be Jeff Kuempel, Brian Kuempel, Ed Rachui, Kip Cannon, Jeremy Walker and Noble E. Walker.
The family will receive friends from six o’clock to eight o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 11th of January 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 12th of January, in the colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Onion Creek Memorial Park, Manchaca, Texas.
In lieu of flowers and the other remembrances, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
