Dora Bowman

Dora ‘Dodie’ Bowman of Austin, TX passed away on Wednesday, the 9th of November 2011 at the age of 98. She was born on the 22nd of July 1913 in Taylor, TX to Alfred and Frieda Lindgren. She was the youngest of five children. She married Bert Bowman on the 17th of September 1941. They enjoyed going on annual campouts with a group of their friends from Hyde Park United Methodist Church. Dodie was a devout member of the church. She was a member of the Methodist Women, and taught Sunday school for many years. She always enjoyed lending her cooking talents to any event the church was hosting. Later in her life she enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends in the church senior group every week.

Dodie is predeceased by her husband, Bert Bowman; her children, Terry and Bruce Bowman; and her four older brothers, Albert, Clarence, Herbert, and Hugo Lindgren. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Brucie Bowman; granddaughter, Lynné Bowman; and grandson, Brady Bowman.

The visitation will be Saturday, the 12th of November from six o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held Sunday, the 13th of November at two o’clock in the afternoon, at Cook-Walden. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery. A reception will be held at Trinity Methodist Church at four o’clock.
