Don Mills

He was born in Austin, Texas and graduated from McCallum High School. At 17 he joined the Navy and was discharged on his 21st birthday. He began his career with National Cash Register then went on to open Business Machine Services with 2 partners; eventually opening Mills Office Products. After many years there, he sold his business and finished his career with Farm Credit Bank.

Don was a sports fan who enjoyed watching his 2 favorite teams, the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. His favorite pastimes were cocktail hour and eating at Serrano’s with Linda. He always had a smile for anyone he met and everyone who knew him will miss his sarcastic, witty humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger & Josie Mills and his siblings, Gene Mills and Billie Jo Bass.

Don is survived by his bride of 50 years, Linda Mills and his daughters, Lisa Monti and her husband Lou Monti, and Gina Alvis and her husband Paul Alvis; grandchildren Nick Scarnato, Hayden Scarnato, Tanner Blair, Emily Alvis and Olivia Alvis and Lacey Monti.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of the family and friends who have offered their prayers and support during this difficult time. Also, many thanks to Hospice Austin, especially to Carol Keihl.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Hope Presbyterian Church, 11512 Olson Drive, Austin, TX 78750.

In lieu of flowers the family requests any contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Austin.
