Dolores Ann Rumpf, 83, of Austin, Texas passed away on February 5, 2022. Dolores was born in Chicago on November 8, 1938. She was the oldest child of Sophie and Eugene Cichowicz. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst, Illinois in 1956. Dolores moved to Texas with her husband, Lester Raphael Rumpf Jr., in 1967. She began a career in publishing doing copyright research, typesetting, and design. Dolores worked 25 years as the Student Liaison and Office Manager for Becker CPA Review Course.
Dolores was an active parishioner at St. Louis Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Flower Guild Chair, and member of the Woman’s Club. She volunteered and utilized her creative talents to create beautiful floral arrangements for the church.
Dolores was co-owner of Calla Lilies, a Wedding and Event Floral company, with her dear friend Denise DeSoto.
Flowers and floral design were a passion for Dolores. She was a member of the Austin Area Garden Club and served on their Board as Director and Parliamentarian. Dolores was a member of the Zilker Botanical Garden and she served as President of the Violet Crown Garden Club from 2001-2003. She received countless design awards for her Floral Show entries.
Dolores is survived by her brother, Eugene Cichowicz (Paulette); daughters, Michelle Dike (Kelly), Paulla Hashem (Randy), and Karen Rumpf; grandchildren Alejandro Valdez, Haleigh Hashem, Hayden Hashem, William Dike, and Harrison Dike; nephews, James Strickler, Leonard Strickler, Perry Strickler, and Nicholas Cichowicz.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Sophie Rose Cichowicz (Wojciechowski) and Eugene John Cichowicz; and her husband, Lester Raphael Rumpf Jr.
Rosary and Visitation is scheduled 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm (Rosary at 6:00 pm) on Thursday, February 10th at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 6100 North Lamar. The Funeral Mass and Reception is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, February 11th at St. Louis Catholic Church on 7601 Burnet Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to AGE of Central Texas. AGE is a wonderful organization that provides support, advocacy, and resources to older adults and their caregivers. Our family was so blessed to have their support as we were navigating the early stages of our mom’s dementia.
