Dennis Meredith, 58, of Austin and formerly of Springfield, IL and Bradenton, FL., passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Austin, TX. He was born on May 2, 1952 to Merle and Mildred (Corra) Meredith both of whom precede him in death.
Dennis graduated in 1971 from Southeast High School in Springfield, Illinois. Upon graduation he then went on to continue his education at Lincoln Land Community College. Dennis married Julie Morthland Emmerling on April 7, 1997 in Springfield, Illinois. He worked as a Computer Programmer for the Illinois Department of Revenue for 25 years before his retirement in 2001. In 2005 Dennis moved to Florida, and soon thereafter on May 18, 2006 had a kidney transplant.
Dennis will be dearly missed by his friends and family. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Julie Morthland Emmerling Meredith; daughter, Lindsay Meredith of Largo, FL; step-daughter, Lisa Fehr and husband Darrin of Austin, TX; step-son, Scott Emmerling of Austin, TX; sister, Marilyn Wenneborg and husband Rick of Chatham, IL; brother, Greg Meredith and wife Anna Marie of Riverton, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org or the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
