Debra Jean Spain, 48, Austin, Texas, passed from this life on November 27, 2008. She was a cherished mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her children Chanda Seymour and Shea Spain. She also leaves behind her mother Sandra Lewis, her father David Forbes, her sisters Casey Sandman, Jackie Cornett, Christina Gray, Brandy Robb, her brother Colin Forbes, and numerous nieces and nephews. Debra graduated Lubbock Coronado High School in 1978. She had a lifelong career as a hairstylist, during which she made many friends and lifelong clients. She moved to Austin in 1982, and from that point forward considered Austin home. Debra dreamed of owning her own hair salon. That dream became reality in 1999 when she opened Austin Hair Company on Burnet Road. Debra enjoyed music, dancing, jogging along Town Lake, and socializing. Her family, friends, and clients were a source of strength for her as she was for them. She will be cherished always in the hearts of those she touched. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 in the Smith Chapel at Riverbend Church in Austin. A memorial fund has been established on behalf of Debra for Shea's education. The family is asking donations be made in lieu of flowers.
