He is survived by a brother, Kenneth Willie, a sister, Charla (Ed) Frieze, a nephew, Kevin (Vanessa) Willie, nieces, Sherill (Stan) Denison, Chala Frieze, and Aaryn Dunton, four great-nieces, three great-nephews, and countless friends. David was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Keith Willie.
David graduated from Amarillo High School in 1970, and relocated to Austin, Texas. He was a successful entrepreneur and salesman with admirable ingenuity, creativity, and innovation. David owned several businesses through the years, including Willie’s Pies of Texas, Texas Silver Springs, Starcade Corporation Total Environment Spa Rooms, Austin Auto Anglers, and Credit Auto Sales. David was an avid freshwater and coastal fisherman, who loved to fish at Reimers Fishing Ranch, Lemon’s Camp, and the Pedernales River. White bass and flounder didn’t stand a chance! David was very skilled at throwing parties, grilling, and making friends. He also enjoyed any opportunity to travel, scuba dive and ride Harley Davidson motorcycles.
David’s legacy is evident in how deeply he loved his family and friends, and through his heart for helping others when they were in need. His generosity and caring changed many peoples’ lives.
Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at 4pm at South Austin Church, 6711 Menchaca Road, in Austin, Texas. Masks are required. Contributions and memorials to honor David can be made to makeadifferencefishing.com.
