David Martin Shaw, age 63, of Cedar Creek, TX, passed peacefully on January 12th, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 9th, 1957 in Waterbury CT, David grew up in East Mountain where he made friends easily, enlisted in the National Guard and began his career in construction and then as a architectural engineer. Although he loved his career, most recently at J-Kraft in San Marcos TX, the center to his life was his family.
He met the love of his life, Jean, and started his family there in Waterbury with his first daughter, Kelly, before moving to Northfield CT where he and his wife grew their family with their second daughter, Casey. David and Jean loved working as a team together, constantly remodeling their home and making every bit of it their own. David, being the family man, spent much time with his second mom, Patricia (DuBay) Sovia, second dad, Myles DuBay Sr, brother (in-law), Myles and sister (in-law), Leslie and Ron Mansolo. He loved riding Harleys with Jean, getting to business on another home project of their own or to help family with theirs. David loved playing golf with his league in CT, honoring fellow veterans as a member of the Honor Guard, or getting together with their motorcycle Dunkin' gang for coffee. In Texas, David continued to make friends easily, loved his neighbors, and ground his roots in Cedar Creek where he soon became the “cabana boy" jamming out to some good classic rock while spending much time outdoors, with his family, friends, and his fur babies. David was loved by many, had such a genuine and kind soul, made friends easily, was always the first to approach someone to see how they were, and would easily befriend a stranger just because you might be wearing a Tull, Harley Davidson, implmywor Rottweiler t-shirt.
David leaves behind his wife, Jean; daughter, Kelly L. Olsen and son-in-law Justin L. Olsen of Hutto, TX, his daughter, Casey P Shaw of Bristol, CT; his best poochie girl, Laila Marie; his mother-in-law, Patricia A. Sovia of Cedar Creek; his mother, Shirley J Shaw of Waterbury, CT; brother-in-law, Myles and Yvette DuBay of Wolcott CT, sister-in-law, Leslie and Ron Mansolo of Austin TX; his nephew, Myles DuBay of Cheshire CT, his nephew, Ryan and Autumn Mansolo of Murfreesboro TN; brothers, Ricky, Steven, Tommy and Gary; sisters, Lisa, Linda, and Deborah; many nieces and nephews, countless friends, and of course his fur babies.
The family will be having mass for David at his favorite Catholic Church, Sacred Heart in Rockne TX on February 13, 2021 at 11:00 am.
Many thanks for all who’ve supported the family during this tragic time. David was a fighter through and through and will surely be in the hearts of everyone he loved and that loved him.
