David Kenneth Johnson, age 59, of Lockhart, Texas passed away on Friday, March 10, 2006, in West, Texas. Born February 17, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he lived his childhood. Dave believed in living life to its fullest. He was a loving father, son and brother. For Dave, joy in life was most often found in being of service to others. He shared his gifts. These ranged from technical savvy in computer networks and PC repairs to craftsmanship in woodworking. He was much loved by friends and colleagues, which included his career ending with 10 years of service with the Teachers Retirement System and previously 24 years at Control Data Corporation. He devoted countless hours to volunteer efforts with the Austin Area Optimists, Kiwanis, programs at St. David's and the Suburban Foundation. His strong spiritual life delivered a message of experience, strength and hope to many people. His faith, hope, humor, humility and goodwill toward others was never more strongly expressed than it was in the way he walked through this past year of his life under the burden of serious illness. He was an inspiration. Dave trudged a happy road. We will miss him. He is survived by his parents Eldred and Rosella Johnson, daughters Cathryn Johnson and Jennifer and husband Jeff Myer, brothers Jerry Johnson and wife Judy, Steve Johnson and wife Annette, Glen Johnson and wife Donna and special friends Scott Barto and Carol Morgan.
