Daryl was so thankful to have a wonderful family, many good friends and neighbors, and a blessed life. Daryl was strong in his faith and found peace in knowing he would one day be with his Savior. He was called home on July 27, 2022 at the age of 75.
Daryl is survived by Linda, his wife of 40 years; daughter Heidi Fowler and husband Tom and their children Emily, Thomas, and Erin; daughter Joanna Avera and husband John and their children Vivian, Chloe, and Lexi; one sister Phyllis Leifeste and her family as well as numerous cousins. Daryl will forever be in all our hearts.
Daryl was born in New Braunfels, Texas on November 11, 1946 to Roland (Pete) and Lucile Voges. He was a graduate of New Braunfels High School and Texas State University and before retiring Daryl was both a tax and right-of-way appraiser for the City of Austin, both Travis and Hays Counties, and the LCRA. Daryl was an avid hunter and loved fishing at the coast.
He traveled throughout the United States and Canada but his favorite trips, for almost 20 years, were the annual Mardi Gras celebrations in Cajun Country in Louisiana. His hobbies included flower gardening, men's softball, flying RC airplanes at our local airfield and dancing at the Goodtime Polka and Waltz Dance Club in New Braunfels. Daryl especially delighted in watching his grandchildren play sports, perform in musical concerts and dance recitals, along with attending various other school events. Daryl was an active member of Manchaca United Methodist Church and attended Austin's Community Bible Study for many years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Daryl's memory can be made to Manchaca United Methodist Church, PO Box 460, Manchaca, TX 78652, or a charity of your choice.
