Darryl Gene Mitchell Sr. was born to the late Ira Joe Mitchell Sr. and the late Bertha Louise Ward on March 5th, 1966, in Austin, Texas. Darryl was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2022.
Darryl accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior under the leadership of Reverend W.M. Reed at St. John College Heights Baptist Church. Darryl attended schools in the Austin Independent School District; Andrews Elementary, Pearce Middle School and Reagan High School, as well as Lexington High School in Lexington, TX.
Darryl began his professional career at Howard Nursery as a horticulturist before going to work with his father on the road at North American Moving & Storage. Following their tour around the country, he worked at United Van Lines, Daryl Flood and E.D.C. Before becoming ill, he was a dedicatedemployee at Texan Windows.
Darryl met the love of his life Bridget Elaine Mitchell in 1986. They tied the knot on April 21, 1987 and from this union came 37 years of marriage and 3 loving sons.
Darryl was a true Washington Redskins fan. So much that he refused to accepttheir name change, a die-hard Redskin!
He is preceded in death by his parents, his maternal and paternal grandparents; and sister, Lana Harper.He leaves to celebrate his memory: his loving wife, Bridget; his sons, Darryl Jr, Jason, and Anthony; the joys of his life, his 6 grandchildren, Is’Is, Jacheón, Zendrick, Saniyah, Anthony, and Zaire; siblings, Jeffrey Mitchell, JoAnn Mitchell (Reggie), Iris Simpson (Robert), Debra Cobbs, Ira Mitchell Jr, ClaudiaWalker (Jerome), Joyce Williams (Reggie) and stepmother, Ethel Mitchell. As well as a host of other relatives and friends.
