Darrell Lynn Jones was born in Austin, Texas on April 7, 1964 to Melvin Colvin and Dorothy Fisher (Cummings). Darrell professed Christ as his Savior early in life, and maintained his relationship with him throughout his life.
Darrell was a strong, courageous, and independent man, who loved his mother and father with all his heart, and there is nothing he wouldn’t do for either one of them. The love he had for his children was undeniable, and he was always supportive and had time for each one of them in spite of the challenges he had with his health He was always available and willing to assist his family whenever needed. Darrell shared a unique bond with his two brothers Marvin and Anthony (AKA Tony). As children, these guys grew up fighting and loving each other as siblings often do, but at the end of the day they were always there for one another. Darrell also had 2 half-sisters and a half-brother whom he loved just as much. Last but definitely not least, Darrell had two very dear and precious friends BW and Eva Wilson. This duo couple shared a sisterhood and brotherhood with Darrell that words cannot express, and they were truly one of the beats to his heart.
Darrell attended elementary school in Kansas City, Kansas and later returned to finish his Junior High and High School education with the Austin Independent School District. He later joined the United States Army in 1981, and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division until he was honorably discharged in 1993.
