Dan served in the US Army during World War II working in a Radar Group in Canada. He married Betty Jo Kinnebrew on February 23, 1952 in Corpus Christi. They lived in Corpus Christi for several years where Dan loved Saltwater Fishing and playing Golf. He served as Precinct Chairman in Corpus Christi and later in Austin. He attended Christ Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi.
Dan moved to Austin in 1968 and continued working for Southwestern Bell and AT&T retiring in 1984 after more than 37 1/2 years. He was a member of the AFL-CIO and served as their Treasurer for several years. He attended Faith Lutheran Church before transferring to Messiah Lutheran Church where he was a longtime member.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Roberts of Austin; 2 sons, David Roberts and his wife, Nona, of Pflugerville and Kenneth Roberts and his wife, Linnie, of Austin; 1 daughter, Rev. Sonja Dalglish and her husband, Rev. Doug Dalglish, of Kingsville, Texas; 1 brother, John Roberts of Altus, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 29th of December 2012, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5701 Cameron Road, Austin, Texas with Rev. David Melber officiating.
In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the family suggests memorials be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 5701 Cameron Road, Austin, Texas 78702.
