Courtney D'Armond Phelps, 37, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Anyone who knew Courtney would describe him as being incredibly kind, generous and loving. Courtney was a great man, large in stature and with an enormous heart, both literally and figuratively. Unbeknownst to anyone, Courtney's heart was almost twice the size of an average man, which ultimately led to its failure. It's quite ironic that the very heart that touched so many people would ultimately take his life.
Courtney is survived by his wife Tiffany, son Bryson (5), and daughter Brooklyn (23 months), of Austin, TX. He also leaves behind his father Thomas and mother Linda of Dripping Springs, Texas, and sister Leslie Anne and nephew Thomas of Phoenix, Arizona.
Courtney was a 1997 graduate of Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, Texas, where he was an honor roll student as well as a basketball and baseball player. Courtney went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin, earning a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and a Master's degree in Sports Management. With this background, it should be no surprise that Courtney was an avid UT football fan, always anxiously awaiting the next football season.
Courtney worked in the real estate industry for over a decade, dedicating most of his career as an Associate Broker for Reilly Realtors. He often found himself among the top-producing agents for this company and proudly earned the prestigious Platinum Top 50 Realtor distinction for Austin, Texas. Even as a successful businessman, Courtney still dedicated his time to his family. He proudly coached his son's little league teams and loved to have impromptu dance parties with his little girl. Courtney never missed an opportunity to bring his wife flowers and told her daily how much he loved her. Most recently, Courtney and Tiffany were able to celebrate nine years of marriage by taking a trip to Italy, a place Courtney had always dreamed of visiting.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held for Courtney D'Armond Phelps on Saturday, September 3rd at 2pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home located at 411 Ranch Road 620 South in Lakeway, Texas 78734.
In lieu of flowers please consider sending donations to a compassionate fund created to help support Bryson and Brooklyn at www.youcaring.com/phelpsfamily.
