This world has truly lost an angel and our family has lost a devoted wife and loving mother. Cornelia Moore went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 24th, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Her faith in God and positive attitude during her illness truly inspired all who knew and came in contact with her. She was born on January 10, 1932 in Spartenburg, South Carolina and is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Hugh Moore; son, Doug Moore; daughter, Mollie Moore; sister, Gilly Kuehn; her three grandchildren, Mason, Amanda and Jonathan and many family members and friends throughout the United States. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelors in English. After teaching for a short time, she worked for the Methodist Missions and in a settlement house in San Antonio. Her "servant's heart" lead her to give of herself and time to numerous ministries in every place she lived. For the last 11 years, she worked at Central Market south in the demo department. She derived such joy and energy from all of the people she worked with and made many deep connections and friends; they were also a part of her family. Mom was a proud member of Berkley United Methodist church for over 25 years, and was involved in community out-reach in so many ways. Just a few would the Kiros prison ministry, feeding the homeless for over 10 years every Sunday morning and serving on the board for the Mary House homeless ministry. She also sang in the choir and was very active in her beloved covenant group. With all that she did, she would often remark to us that she "wished she could do more." Her many friends and family at church sustained her not only through her illness but in her life over the years. Our family would like to thank everyone who sent cards, food, flowers and just came to sit with Mom over the last weeks. We appreciate all of you. It is truly impossible to express how much she meant to so many. The profound effect she had on our lives will be in our hearts forever. We love you, Mom. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 29 at 11:00 AM at Berkley United Methodist Church, 2407 Berkley Avenue, Austin, Texas 78745. Memorials can be sent to Berkley United Methodist Church.
