Constance Corrine Conway Palmersheim was born August 8, 1944 in Gulfport, Mississippi to Marjorie and Daniel Conway. She grew up in Elma, Iowa and attended Immaculate Conception School. After high school, Connie went to Lab & X-Ray school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Pete Palmersheim, who was a school classmate of hers. Pete was in the U.S. Navy and had just received orders to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. They spent 3 1/2 years in Hawaii and had their first child, Doug, there. They then spent a couple of years in Minneapolis where their second child Pam was born
In 1970, they moved to Austin, Texas. Connie did volunteer work in the schools while her kids were young and then worked for many years in doctor's offices, doing reception, billing and other duties. During this time, Connie's 2nd home was St. Ignatius Church. She spent 33 years as a RCIA Sponsor, many years as a Eucharistic Minister and over 20 years as a Catholic Daughter. She also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, PTA member and a fill-in baseball coach when Pete was late or out of town. She was also known for her big smile and the ability to talk and listen at the same time.
Connie is survived by her husband, Pete Palmersheim; her son Douglas Palmersheim and wife Debbie, daughters Mechelle and Crystal Ellis; her daughter Pamela Palmersheim Nixon and her children Gabriel and Hannah Nixon; her brother, Jerry Conway and wife Denise, their children Debbie Llamas and Danny Conway; 5 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews, who she adored greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Marjorie Conway.
