Clyde Sutton was born third child of five, to parents James and Susie Sutton, who preceded him in death. He also will reunite in Heaven with his eldest brother, John Sutton, who also preceded him in death.
Clyde’s sunrise was November 20, 1942, and his sunset was August 26, 2018.
He joined Union Hill Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ at an early age.
Clyde graduated in 1961 from Washington High School as the salutatorian. He went on and earned college credit while attending Huston Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. He was later drafted into the United States Army where he served his country during the Vietnam War.
Clyde was employed for many years as a chef. He often utilized his culinary talents at family gatherings where he was known for his delicious tender and juicy smoked chicken, brisket and sausages. On the side, Clyde was found on his family farm caring for the livestock.
On July 6, 1968, he united in matrimony to his sweetheart, Bernice Spriggs Sutton. They recently celebrated 50 years. From this union three children were born; daughter, Penora Sutton Giles of Austin, TX; daughter, Claudia Sutton Arnick of Desoto, TX; and son, Clyde Sutton Jr. of Austin, TX.
Clyde also leaves to cherish is memory his sister, Mary Johnson of Elgin, TX; his brother, Vernon Sutton and sister-in-law, Carol Sutton of Elgin, TX; sister, Joyce Ann Fowler of Austin, TX; sister-in-law, Delores Sutton of Philadelphia, PA; along with nine grandchildren, four great-grand children, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
